If You Love Downton Abbey, You'll Love This....

Beginning today through May 25, 2015, the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina will display the costumes from Downton Abbey. Why is this an important event for the crew at the Titanic Museum Attraction, you ask? Let me explain....

1.  Location proximity to Biltmore:
The Titanic Museum Attraction is just 1 1/2 hours away from Biltmore.

2. Titanic Connection to Biltmore:

There is an interesting connection between Biltmore and Titanic. Mr. and Mrs. Vanderbilt had booked passage aboard Titanic, but for some reason, decided to head home a week early on Titanic's sister ship, Olympic. However, the couple's manservant, Mr. Wheeler, stayed with the original plan to travel aboard Titanic with the Vanderbilts' luggage. Unfortunately, Mr. Wheeler did not survive the tragedy. An original personal letter written to their estate superintendent stating that they will be traveling aboard Titanic is on display at our museum along with the rest of the Biltmore Story.

3. Titanic Connection to Downton Abbey -
The story begins in April 1912 when the heir to the title of Earl of Grantham, who resides in Downton Abbey, perishes on the 'Titanic'...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1608844

4. Titanic Connection to The Costumes -
This temporary exhibit will display period clothing from 1912, the year that Titanic set sail.

We consider this a historical, educational event. Why not stay a night at Biltmore to see the exhibit and experience 1st Class accommodations and then head to Pigeon Forge where you can tour the permanent, interactive Titanic Museum Attraction and learn about the people who might have worn this clothing?
