Titanic Summer Line Up

Summer is off to a great start. Did you hear that our Titanic Museum Attractions are the only 2 places in the United States that you can see the Iconic Titanic Violin of the late Wallace Hartley? This is your only chance. The violin is at the Titanic in Pigeon Forge now and will stay there until July 27, 2013. It will then travel to Branson, Mo. where it will be shown at the Titanic in Branson from August 1 through the 15th. This is a once in a lifetime limited opportunity! I highly recommend a visit. Call us at 800-381-7670.

On a personal note, summer began 1 week ago and we have already swam at the lake, boys went fishing one morning, went go-carting at the Tracks, had 4 or 5 slumber parties (I lost count),  and now we are getting ready for our best friends from Houston, Texas to come visit the second week in June. Is anyone else as busy as I am???

Also, we have been shopping for a boat again. Every year we get the fever and this coming Father's Day weekend, the Titanic Branson will again host the Father's Day Bass Pro Boat show in the parking lot. I will be bringing my husband to the event. We'll see...we can't decide if we want a Tahoe fish and ski or a pontoon boat. All we know is that we want to spend all of our free time at the lake. Boating, fishing, skiing, tubing, swimming, being at the lake - our favorite summer activities.

Write in and let me know what your favorite summer activities are. I'd love to hear from you!

See you at the Titanic!

The Holy Grail of all Titanic Artifacts is on Display Now at the Titanic Museum Attraction

When I first found out that Wallace Hartley's Titanic violin was found and that we would be the only museum in the United States to display this important part of history, I became overwhelmed with emotions. After all, this is the Holy Grail of Titanic artifacts. As you all know, last year, the Titanic turned 100 years old. Our Titanic Museum Attractions put on memorial tributes portraying the utmost respect to the passengers and crew who sailed the great ship 100 years ago. I felt honored to be a part of this tribute and felt it was a once in a lifetime event for me. Now, in 2013, we become part of Titanic History again as this Long Lost Titanic Violin has finally resurfaced 101 years later. Wow.

Wallace Hartley was Titanic's BandMaster, experiencing the height of his career when he boarded Titanic. He was engaged to his fiancee, Maria Robinson, and was hesitant to take the job, but decided it was a wonderful career opportunity. When Titanic hit the iceberg and began to sink, Hartley and his musical crew decided to meet their fate, standing on the decks of the ship playing their beautiful music. Survivors reported that the band played until the bitter end. In my mind, Wallace Hartley is a hero.

Now, 101 years later, the Titanic Museum Attraction has been chosen to display the Long Lost
Titanic Violin for the world to see before it is auctioned off at the Aldridge Auction house in England this fall. Each of you who visits the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tn from now until July 27, or the Titanic Museum Attraction in Branson, Mo. from August 1 - 15, 2013, will become part of this amazing discovery in Titanic history. I invite you all to share this with your friends and families this summer and help us continue to pay tribute to the Mighty Titanic and the brave soles who sailed her.

Signing Off for Now,

"Titanic" Tribute to Mothers

According to wikipedia, "Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society." When I think about what it means to be a mom, the following words come to my mind - strong, loving, caring, helpful, beautiful, smart, trustworthy. I hope that I portray these characteristics on a daily basis with my children.

I will tell you that I have already received my mother's day gift. Last night, while tucking my littlest one into bed, I was blessed with the following speech....
"Mom, I just wanted to tell you that you are the best mom in the whole entire world. Thank you for taking care of me when I am sick and snuggling me every night. Thank you for helping me with my homework, cooking me yummy dinners, and always smiling so pretty. I am so thankful for you."

This very gesture made my day, month, year, world. Have you ever heard the saying, "being a mother is a thankless job"? I truly despise that confession. I believe that you will have what you say and I will never say that! I am Mom that is truly blessed beyond measure!

Robert Spedden with him Mother and Father
I often think about what it must have been like to be a mother on the Titanic during the sinking. How would I have acted in that moment of panic? I know my first priority would have been to latch on to my children and save their lives no matter the cost. I think I would have remained calm until I knew we were safe...then I would have gone crazy after the fact. There are many heroic stories about mothers who saved their children and got them safely onto lifeboats.  I would like to take a moment to honor them and their heroism. They should never be forgotten.

What will you do this Mother's Day to honor your mom? We are offering a special on Exclusive Titanic jewelry on our website in honor of all mothers. All Mothers love jewelry. And...Coming from a mom, I think the most meaningful gift is to just recognize what a blessing moms are to this country, world, universe. Surprise your mom this Mother's Day with a special phone call to tell her just how thankful you are for her. She will be forever grateful.

With love on Mother's Day,
